Mega Blood Donation Camp - organized by Asansol Durgapur Police Association.

(Blood is the river of life that flows through our body. World statistics show that today blood is the most sort-after body part in the world. Demand and supply are slowly drifting further and further apart. In this vital issue the role of the voluntary Blood Donors is immense.





For this noble mission West Bengal Police Association, Asansol Durgapur Police organized a mega Blood Donation Camp on 27th November at Aurobinda Police Station, A-Zone, Durgapur at 11 AM  in presence of Mr. Ajoy Kumar Nanda, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Mr. Subhankar Sinha Sarkar, Asst. Dy. Commissioner of Police, Mr. Kazi Samsuddin Ahmed, SDPO, Mr.
 Sayed Rezaul Kazi, Officer In charge of Aurobinda Police Station, DR. Nikhil Banerjee, MLA, Durgapur (East), Mr. Gagan Chandra Ghosh, Chairman DMC,  and many other dignitaries. Police Commissioner Mr. Ajoy Kumar Nanda said in his short and valuable speeches, “We are trying hard to change the image of the Police Force in the eyes of the general public and we are extending our co-operation and help to establish Community Policing System in place of Colonial Policing like earlier days. The mission of this Commissionerate is to enforce the law and to bring the attitudinal change for greater police public harmony and thereby achieve greater efficiency in its primary objective of prevention of crime and detection of crime. Police must be compassionate, courteous and patient acting without fear or favour or prejudice to rights of others.   Today’s noble mission is the beginning of such community programme for the benefit of the nation as a whole. In future we like to do many such benevolent works for the people so that beside maintenance of peace and harmony, law & order, we can stretch our hands in disposition to do good to others and our success will definitely pave the way of many more police commissionerates in the state in the coming days. ”

There were 150  donors among them 15 were female and a total of 150 Units of Blood were collected and deposited the same in Burdwan Medical College & Hospital through Dr. Soma Sarkar who was also present in that programme.

            Beside they arranged for an Eye Donation Camp arranged by Durgapur Blind Relief Society and a number of people were encouraged by the valuable speeches of Mr. Debasis Karmakar of Blind Relief Society to give their undertakings to donate their eyes after their expiry. He says, “Blindness is one of the greatest curses to our civilization and still in this present world of advanced technological innovation it has many preys to claim. Today in our country there are nearly 12 million visually impaired individuals roughly 20% of the world total. Still now in our country about 8 million people die every year but only 18 to 20 thousands corneas are collected. To remove the gap between requirement and availability of cornea, people in large should come forward to donate their eyes. ”

            In the same Dias Mr. Sayed Rezaul Kabir, Officer In charge of Aurobinda Police Station applauded the NCC 10th Battalion of Durgapur and offered 150 of them the certificate of appreciation for their valuable services extended during the festive season in this large city for maintenance of peace and harmony with the Police Force and he also admitted that without their help this hard task was beyond impossible. He also appreciated the R. G. Party of Durgapur who extend their sincere service in night throughout the township area and the Association offered 120 of them the Jacket, Torch Light, whistle and spear which are very essential for rendering their valuable services.

            At the end the Police Association distributed 150 numbers Blanket to the poor and destitute who are absolutely unable to manage a single wrapper in this winter.

            The total programme was sponsored by Info Media, the Rotary Club of Durgapur, IFB Agro Industries Limited, Mangalik Nabannya Restaurant, Legend Hotel, Samir Jhun Jhunwala, I.Q. City, Udaipur Marble, Chandan Jewellers and many such organizations here.
