Mount Everest expedition.

Mount Everest Expedition by the physically handicapped person – the first time in the country.

Durgapur Mountaineers Association is going to organize its next expedition at Nepal Himalayay and the great news is that Shri Paresh Chandra Nath of Durgapur Steel Township is going to attempt Mt. Everest (8848m) the highest mountain peak of the world during April-May of this year and the most challenging fact is that Shri Nath is a physically challenged person with 60% disability. It is not the first time in his life. He is an experienced mountaineer who has already climbed several peaks of Himalayay like Kedardome (6830m), Chandra Parvat (6728m) Gangotri-II (6590m) etc.

Shri Paresh Chandra Nath is the first handicapped person (male climber) from our country to climb Mt. Everest (8848m). In spite of being a handicapped, Paresh has shown remarkable ability to climb and observe safety routines on the mountain. Moreover he has achieved a high standard of proficiency in snow, ice and general mountain craft - says Sagarmoy Choudhury, General Secretary of Durgapur Mountaineers Association.

“I have got the zeal and the will power through I am a handicapped person to climb Mt. Everest but not sufficient fund and everything is depending on the sponsorship of the Mountaineers Association, SAIL-DSP and other benevolent organizations to arrange for this mammoth amount of money.”- says Nath.
